Values and Ethics

Recognized by the TBS Professional Development and Certification Program for the Procurement, Materiel Management, and Real Property Community.

At this one-day course, the facilitator will focus primarily on ethical reasoning and decision-making by using a variety of case studies pertinent to the materiel management environment. You will be given the opportunity to discuss the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Service and learn more on how it can guide and support you in your daily professional activities. This session will be highly interactive and allow you to benefit from the collective experience of your colleagues.

How to Write Better Statements of Work and Bid Evaluations

This course will provide managers with the knowledge, skills and practical tools needed to develop more effective and compliant Statements of Work (SOW's) and Evaluation Criteria within their RFP's. In addition to covering a wide range of principles and best practices, participants will have an opportunity to work with the presenter to critique a sample SOW and Evaluation Criteria document. In addition, participants will also receive a package of easy-to-follow templates and writing tools to take back to their office.

Overview of Procurement for Materiel and Real Property

Recognized by the TBS Professional Development and Certification Program for the Procurement, Materiel Management, and Real Property Community.

Does contracting affect your work? If you are involved in contracts, this workshop is for you! This interactive one-day awareness session on Procurement will include accountability, values and ethics; legal and political framework; contracting environment; contracting process; and, contract administration and dispute resolution.

Participants will learn how to identify the roles and responsibilities in the procurement process; identify the phases in the procurement process and relevant documentation; identify the policies and procedures applicable to the procurement process; and, identify the various methods of supply.

Real Property: An Overview for Procurement and Materiel Managers

Recognized by the TBS Professional Development and Certification Program for the Procurement, Materiel Management, and Real Property Community.

This workshop, is designed to assist managers in better understanding the scope and challenges of the federal government’s real property sector. “Real Property Fundamentals” is designed to provide an overview of frameworks, strategies, values, tools and processes that govern real property decision-making within the federal government. There is a need to consider the size and scope of the federal government’s real property, to understand the policy expectations of central agencies with respect to real property management, to identify the objectives and goals of real property management, and to assess the issues and challenges being faced in the real property community. This session may assist participants in applying new insights and ideas from the real property sector to their materiel management roles and responsibilities.

Areas to be covered in this workshop include:

  • The Federal Government’s Real Property Portfolio;
  • The Role of a Real Property Management Framework;
  • Primary Roles and Responsibilities within the Federal Government’s Real Property Community;
  • Chief Central Agency Real Property Policy Requirements;
  • Real Property and Life Cycle Management;
  • Understanding the Demand for Real Property;
  • Understanding Real Property Supply Issues; and,
  • Understanding Real Property Information Management.

CITT Legal Risks

This course will provide participants with an understanding of the legal risks inherent in the procurement process. Practical ideas will be discussed to help understand those risks and to keep them in perspective. The session will cover some of the more troublesome areas of procurement law and provide insight into the current climate of increased supplier militancy.
